Operational Needs

Time and again, our customers tell us how easy the Fenton dryers are to run and maintain. In designing specifically for midsize wastewater treatment plants, we look to create machines that don't need much attention and don't break down.

  • The large Fenix™ infeed hopper lets you keep five to eight loads of sludge ready for drying. This means that operators don't need to closely monitor and adjust production rates from dewatering equipment.
  • Unlike continuous dryers or other batch-style dryers, the Fenix™ allows quick and easy adjustment of the moisture content or drying time of an actively drying batch.
  • The Auto-Cycle Batch technology lets you set the schedule; run the machine during working hours, unattended overnight, even around the clock for up to 90 days.
  • The Fenix™ can dry sludges with a wide range of solids contents — plus you decide the moisture content of the final product.

Established sites report the overall operator time required at about 2 hours per day. Here's why:

  • Our Auto-Cycle Batch technology allows operators to command the Fenix™ to run a series of consecutive batches that will automatically load, run, and unload.
  • The Fenix™ has an easy-to-use touchscreen control system mounted on the machine skid.
  • There is no need for back-mixing sludge or adding inputs because of the batch design.
  • There is no need for sampling and testing the biosolids beyond regulatory requirements.
  • When the required batches are complete, the operator simply puts the machine in cool-down mode. The dryer will cool itself and shut down automatically.

  • Daily lubrication is performed by an auto-lube system—not by operators.
  • Periodic lubrication maintenance can be performed with machine running.
  • For a plant that runs a Fenix™ for 40 hours per week, the regular maintenance tasks should average less than one hour per week.

  • Fenton customers are supported by great service (learn more).
  • Sensors and controls systems identify any problem points to make diagnosis easy.
  • The Fenix™ includes a modem link to Fenton so issues can be resolved quickly.
  • A one year parts and service warranty is standard, with custom warranties available.

Wastewater treatment systems are complicated and have numerous machines, connections, and processes that need to run smoothly. When a failure happens you don't have the luxury of telling your community to stop using water, you need reliable systems backed up by dependable and responsive service partners. At Fenton, our machines are so reliable that most of our service calls to plants are not the result of failures; they are because of process changes at the plants such as installation of a new dewatering method.
